Home again!

The bus arrived in SF about 11pm tonight. Everyone was glad to be home. Rocky Mountain High was an awesome experience, but there is not place like home.

Thank you to everyone that made it possible for the teens in our church to have this experience!

God Bless

One the way home

I left last night with the Lennox church. Morgan and I are in Corsica and on our way to Platte to see Grandma. Our bus trip was very good, since we were traveling in the night and everyone was sleeping.

I spoke with Mike this morning and he said they left the camp about 7:45am this morning. The kids were all up and ready to go bright and early.

They are all excited to get home.

God Bless
Robin

PS -- Look on the site later tonight and I will try to upload more pictures and some video from RMH. Have the kids send me any pictures that they want shown in church. It is best to burn the pictures to a CD or e-mail them to me. I will also be creating a custom photo album. Please let me know if you want one. The cost will be about $15.00 each. I will need all the pictures by Monday.

Tuesday Update

Hello,

Everyone is ready to come home. It has been a wonderful experience, but there is no place like home.

Today we attended sessions in the morning and had an afternoon of shopping. Tonight is the last session. I am guessing it will be very powerful.

The kids will load the bus at 8am tomorrow and should be home about 9pm. Morgan and I are going home with the Lennox bus that will be leaving at 10pm tonight. My grandma is still hanging in there and I want to try to get home to see her.

Your kids will call you to let you know what time to pick them up at the Good news reformed church in Sioux Falls. Just a reminder there is construction on 26th street.

Thank you for allowing the me opportunity to spend this time with you kids. They are really awesome kids!

This morning was mission offering. Our kids made the decision to give money from the RCYF account to missions as well as their own money.

When they get home ask them about the following things:
The Chalk Guy.
The homeless man.
Truth or Bare test
Hiking
The bus driver
Who talks in their sleep

I am sure I will think of more things later to have you ask them about. This will be my last post as I will be leaving right after the session tonight.

God Bless
Robin

Monday update

Hello!

Most of the kids went to the waterpark today. It was a huge waterpark in the Denver area. That meant a long bus ride! Unfortunately the bus did not have AC on the ride home.

Hillary & Mike went horse back riding. Mike's horse is famous! Smokey has been in commercials and movies. Holly and I went rock climbing today. It was a great experience. I am not going to put any of the picture of us rock climbing on-line. It is just not a good angle for pictures. Jeff went golfing and had a great time.

Sorry no pictures today. The kids did not take any pictures at the water park.

Food report: Overall the food has been pretty good. We have noticed that they are serving a lot of beans and pastas. I think that we will all be ready for grilled burger when we get home.
Tonight Ken Davis was our speaker. He talked about making a commitment. We have youth group twice everyday. Tonights youth group time involved great discussion and testimony of how God has worked in our lives.

Behavior: The kids have been great. Positive attitudes. Attending all sessions. Participating in Youth Group. Punctual, In the dorms on time (even a little early), respectful. We have great kids in our Youth Group!

Just so you know.... Morgan and I are trying to get home early. The Lennox bus is leaving after the session on Tuesday night and if they have room we will be riding back with them. My grandmother is very close to the end. My aunt will be arriving in Platte on Wednesday and the family believes that she is holding on until my aunt get there. I am hoping that I can get home early enough Wednesday to see Grandma.

My Grandma Jenny has been a wonderful influence in my Christian life. We have talked a lot about her and her ministry as an everyday person. I believe that her death was planned at this time. I am not sure that I would have talked about my grandmother with the kids, had she not been dying. Tonight I shared Grandma's favorite scripture with the kids. "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God; in Him will I trust." - Psalms 91:2

Tuesday: The kids will be attending sessions in the morning and evening. The afternoon is dedicated to sightseeing and shopping.

God Bless! He is working in the hearts of the kids at Rocky.

Late update Sunday

We attended the evening main event tonight. We enjoyed music from Remedy Drive, comedy from 3 2 1 Improv and the key message from Mike Williams.

Here is summary of what the kids did during free time today.

Girls went hiking -- Robin, Alicia, Heidi and Nealy,
All boys went hiking except Joey.
Joey played mini golf.
Hillary went on the Wilderness Tour. She said it was interesting, beautiful and bumpy!
The other girls - Morgan, Julie, Nicole, Danielle, Shelby took naps and hung out together.
Mike got to spend the afternoon with his son, Lucas.
Jeff and Holly spent the afternoon in town shopping and with friends.

I am have added a few pictures from today. I can only get pictures from my camera at this time as I have lost a cord some where in this messy room. Girls sure do bring a lot of stuff!

Take care
Robin

PS -- Todd left me a message that Grandma is still hanging in there, but her kidneys are beginning to fail. She spirits are still good. She looks forward to going to heaven.

Sunday Update

Hello from Rocky Mountain High. Here is an update for the day. We attended the morning event with Ben Glen. He is an artist and speaker. His work was wonderful. All the kids loved the message. Each of us attended morning sessions with different speakers. This afternoon was on campus free time. I have not heard from everyone yet on their activities. I went hiking with Alicia, Heidi, Abby, and Nealy. We hiked to 10,500 ft above sea level! It was a great experience. I know that some boys went hiking. Morgan spent the afternoon in bed. Yesterday wiped her out.

Tonight we have a speaker and concert at 7pm. We will have youth group time and I will try to get updates from everyone on the day and pictures to upload.

Tomorrow most of the kids go to the Waterpark for the day.

God Bless!

Saturday Night update

Wow What a day! The day started at 1am in the church parking lot. The bus ride was long. We got to Camp at 3pm today. The registration line was the longest. It took almost 2 hours of waiting in line on the bus to get everyone registered. Once here we unpacked, ate dinner and attended the opening event. We enjoyed great music and comedy tonight. Our lesson was to leave yesterday behind us. We have all made mistakes and we need to live for the Lord today. Over all it was a good day. A couple of us got bus sick in the mountains, but we are better now.

Tomorrow is a full day starting at 7am! We have the main session, group time and most everyone is enjoying free time in the afternoon. Guitar Hero is one of the hot things to do in the free time.

I am attaching pictures from the day.

Please keep all the kids in your prayers and this can be an opportunity for faith to grow.

God Bless
Robin

Update

We are in Fort Morgan, CO for lunch. Everyone is doing well. The bus is actually very quit. Kids are watching movies, sleeping, playing games and reading. We expect to get to camp about 3PM. Everyone say hi back home.

I called the hospital this morning and my Grandma made it through the night. She was awake all night talking to her children. My uncle said it was a slumber party in a hospital room. Thank you for your prayers.

My next update will be tonight. I hope to add pictures at that time.

Prayer request

Please keep my family in your prayers. My mom just called and my Grandma had several heart attacks this afternoon and evening. She may not make it through the night. I was able to call her and talk to her in the hospital to say good-bye and I love you. My parents, aunts and uncle are encouraging Morgan and I to attend Rocky Mountain High. Grandma even said, "Go to your youth convention and have fun." My Grandma's name is Jenny Kok from New Holland, SD she is 94 years old. She is my role model for a Woman of Faith.
